Then I added the topping. It called for flour, oats, butter, brown sugar (lots!), and a few other things. You placed this on the top and then set it in the oven to bake for about an hour. The recipe came together quickly and easily which was definitely a plus for me. Sometimes I feel like crisps and cobblers should take a long time to put together, but this one really doesn't. The most tedious part was peeling and slicing the apples, and even that wasn't so bad!

Whilst it was baking, the apartment smelled lovely! Then it came out looking a lovely golden brown.

We ate it warm with chocolate frozen yogurt. Lovebug kept joking that I could take out my portion and he would just finish off the pan. But we ended up making it last 4 whole days! He loved it and I'm sure he will be ready for me to make it again soon. I really liked it as well, the only thing I would change is to use a more tart apple, like granny smith. The topping was excellent, but between all the brown sugar in the top and the fact the apples were fairly sweet on their own, it was a bit too much. I suppose you could also just reduce the amount of sugar in the top to compensate for the apples, but as I mentioned, I loved the topping as the recipe was written, so I will try the tart apple route first. You can find the recipe on Joy the Baker's website. It is titled, "Sit and Stay Awhile Apple Crisp." I recommend it!

To life... full of crisp, fall apples!
