It's a waiting game... and it's getting harder and harder to be patient! This weekend we made a lot of progress on our apartment. It was SO wonderful! Now don't mistake that for meaning it's all clean and neat and ready for pictures, BUT it looks so much better and if I had Baby Z right now, I would feel ok with the current condition of our apartment. On Saturday we went to our hospital tour. It was good to learn where we need to go when we enter and where all the rooms are and what will happen during our stay there. We also have the car seat installed in our car and our hospital bags mostly packed! I bought snacks over the weekend to take to the hospital as well. So now it's just a matter of those contractions starting!
Sorry for the lack of posts recently, I've been training my replacement at work, working on unpacking the apartment -- a continual work in progress, and making preparations for a baby to join our lives. It's keeping me busy! I got some extra sleep over the weekend, which was just wonderful! I don't know when I'll be able to start posting more frequently again, I've heard that you stay fairly busy with a newborn, but I promise to try to get back to it before long. But for now, I hope you are enjoying my regular Monday updates.
To life... full of waiting!

Monday Musings: Part 22
Sadly, today's musing must be short.
Today has been busy that is my report.
This week on Thursday I will be full-term.
I am so not ready, and it's making me squirm.
The move for the weekend did not go as planned.
We move again tomorrow, it's hard to understand.
I'm tired, I'm cranky, my stress level's up.
I just took a drink of water out of my cup.

My belly is big and my walk is quite slow.
Moving requires reaching high and bending low.
And to do it again? It makes my mind blow.
But that is my lot, what must happen, it's true.
It's all so crazy, I don't even feel blue.
I've run out of time, no more I can say.
Tomorrow, we'll try again, it will be a new day!

2011 Miles
My goal for 2011 was to run 575 miles. In the beginning (prior to June) I only counted miles of actual running, but once I found out I was pregnant, I allowed myself to count both walking and jogging (although the doctor soon nipped that in the bud) toward my mileage. Well, I fell short of my goal, but I am not disappointed because it motivated me the whole year to keep moving! My total mileage for 2011 was 403 miles. That means I averaged a little over 1 mile every day last year. Technically, 1.1 miles per day! So I am proud of myself for what I DID accomplish and plan to set a new mileage goal for 2012. Just need a little more time to figure out what it will be...

Monday Musings: Part 21
The one month countdown has begun! I can't believe how quickly the past few weeks have gone! Preparing for Christmas, celebrating Christmas, starting the packing process. This week is going to continue being devoted to packing and moving. Fortunately, we are starting to get several people who have said they can help us with the actual moving of boxes and furniture, so that is a huge relief! Part of me is a little sad to go because this has been our home for 3 1/2 years. I haven't lived somewhere that long for the past 10 years! But I'm definitely looking forward to moving into more space and setting up the nursery. So far, it's been fun to get stuff for Baby Z, but when we bring it home it goes in a corner or in a box, so I haven't really gotten to enjoy it and oversee all that we have for him. Then we can also move forward and buy some of his furniture -- a crib, a dresser, some pretty key items that we simply don't have room for at the moment! I'm sure the next week or so after that will be spent unpacking and by then I'll already be at full term -- whew!
**Side note -- when I don't go to work, my days run together. I just had the thought, oh no, I was supposed to write up my Monday Musings post yesterday, no wait today IS Monday, or is it? How do you keep track of the days once the baby comes?**
Now on to random facts that I want to remember about this time in my pregnancy:
1. Zeke is moving around a lot -- at least the past couple of days he has been squirming and shifting. I think I felt him have hiccups yesterday. I've been trying to capture his movements on the video setting on my camera, but so far, nothing. I always want to show people when he's moving because it's so obvious to me, but he tends to either move much less or stop entirely once they start watching. So far, his movements don't really hurt me or cause me pain. There are some times when he might kick or push a little harder, but about 97% of the time, I am just able to enjoy his movements.
2. I can't say I've really had any cravings except for the time during the summer when I really wanted cucumber salad. But that only lasted about a week. I'm currently eating Blue Bell Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Ice Cream :o)
3. I've started wearing more of Lovebug's clothes around the house. They are just more comfortable than even my lounge pants. Some of the maternity clothes I was wearing at the beginning no longer fit. Thankfully, I was given a wide range of clothes and should be able to make it to the end! But I was still a little surprised when some of them starting feeling too tight to be comfortable.
4. My heartburn has mostly subsided on its own. I haven't had to take the medicine regularly, just every once in awhile if I feel a flare-up happening. But I've been able to eat a surprising amount of spicy foods (ie. the extremely spicy chicken tortilla soup I made a couple weeks ago) with no repercussions! I've been thankful.
To life... full of moving and staying busy!

Happy New Year!
2012
I love new beginnings. The start of a new year. What will the next 366 days (yes, I'm right, it's Leap Year!) hold? How will my life be changed? How will I fail and succeed in the coming months? What will I learn? How will my life affect others?
As much uncertainty as there is, I know of a few things coming in 2012:
A baby, for starters. I'll keep you posted on the way he'll rock our world.
We're moving, mainly to make room for Baby Z.
I'll be done working at an office and begin the work of a stay-at-home mom.
My cousin and Lovebug's brother are getting married.
Beyond that, who knows? I'm excited for what lies ahead and plan to share some of that with you. I'm excited to start working on my New Year's Goals and see what I can accomplish in the year ahead.
