Four Months Old!

Zeke, you are 4 months old!

Weddings are fun!

- As of this morning's doctor's appointment you weigh 11 lbs. 6 oz. and are 24 1/2 inches long! (Apparently our scale at home is inaccurate.)

- You have traveled to 20% of the United States already. In the past month you have been in the following states: Texas, Nebraska, Kansas, Missouri, Maryland, Connecticut, Massachusetts, New York, Florida, and Louisiana! You were such a great traveler!

- You are still wearing size 1 diapers and mostly 0-3 month clothes, but they're starting to get snug, so we've moved you into a few 3-6 month clothes and are probably going to switch over to size 2 diapers starting today.

-You have started watching us quite intently as we eat and drink. I think you're ready to try it too and I have been so excited to start you on rice cereal. But when we went to the doctor today he said, "Throw that rice cereal away! Have him eat what you eat!" so we came home and gave you some mashed up bananas. Yum!

- You are starting to hold up your head well. We sit you in your Bumbo seat to practice and you can keep it upright for quite awhile before slumping over.

- We just took the mesh liner out of your tub and you're sitting up on the little shelf. You seem to like it because last night during your bath you started splashing and your legs have room to kick now.

- You LOVE to read! We read you books and you look at the pictures, touch the pages, and even move your head back and forth as if you're reading along.

- Up to this point I haven't done much for a bedtime routine because I knew we'd be traveling a lot in May and would probably get thrown off. So now that we're home we've started nursing, reading a book or two, singing some songs, and then rocking you to sleep. Even though it's only been a couple of nights, it's already starting to take a little less time for you to fall asleep! Typically you sleep for 5-6 hours before waking up to eat and then sleeping some more. I'm thinking/hoping this long stretch might be extended once you start eating some solid foods.

- You are interested in your hands and feet and have started to stare and play with them.

- You have started touching our faces and patting us with your hands; you also are starting to grab and hold onto our clothes and hair and most anything you can reach. At Uncle Nathan's wedding you were sitting in Daddy's lap while he was eating cake; you reached out and grabbed the cake and got frosting all over your hand. We quickly wiped it off!

- You are such a people person! Meeting your cousins for the first time this past month made you smile a lot. You especially seem to enjoy being around other kids.

You are growing so fast I just can't even believe the difference in just 4 short months. We love you so much and the way you are alert and seem to always be observing and learning about the world around you. We are looking forward to starting to feed you new foods this month!

To life... full of solid foods!
