Happy New Year!
A resolution is "a firm decision to do or not to do something" while a goal can be defined as "the aim or object towards which an endeavor is directed."
I like setting goals and coming up with a few resolutions every year. I like to work on becoming better in the weak areas of my life. I try to whittle my list down to less than ten, otherwise it can feel overwhelming and I can't really focus on doing a few things to the best of my ability (and sometimes I even forget them, if I've chosen too many). Here are a few of my resolutions for 2013:
- Log 1300 miles
- I got a pedometer for Christmas, so I plan to wear it every day and count all my activity. 1300 miles averages out to about 3.6 miles each day. I wore my pedometer for a few days this past week to get an idea of how much I move on a typical day. I feel like this goal is achievable, but it will also challenge me to move more than usual each day.
- Memorize 12 Bible verses
- I know this is only one per month, but there have been times when I've tried to memorize a verse each week and then fallen short. I'm hoping by doing one per month I'll really be able to meditate on the verse and actually remember all twelve by the end of the year.
- Study/Learn what respect means and how to treat my husband with respect in thoughts, actions, and words.
- I read the book "Love and Respect" a couple of years ago and really enjoyed it. But I would like to go beyond just this one book and really learn what respect means and how to implement it in my marriage appropriately. I know this is an area I fall short in and I could definitely use an entire year of study and practice.
To life... full of living in 2013!
